Philippians 3:13-14 ESV
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
We are over whelmed by things that haunt our minds from the past.
Things that stop us from taking hold of our present and future.
These things put images in our mind that tell us that we cannot do what we were meant to do.
The Bible calls these things “strong holds”.
2 Corinthians 10:4 KJB
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;
Strong holds have one purpose only and that is to keep you from discovering who you really are to become.
Jesus said; I have come to set you free from strong holds called bondage.
He has set your feet upon new ground or solid ground.
The ground you might be standing on might be shaky or lose.
Like your world and everything that you are going through might seem impossible to handle day to day.
Freedom has come to set you free but, you have to receive it by receiving it from the hands of Jesus.
Only He can take the pain completely away.
Jeremiah 23:29 NIV
“Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?
The first step to no more pain or bondage is to change your circumstance.
Commitment to change to a life style that He knows is right for you.
If you don’t choose to change and receive his help then you will stay in the hurt and bondage.
You have to love hurt and pain to stay in it when God has made a way out.
1 Corinthians 10:13 KJB
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
He loves you enough to deliver you out of the pain and sufferings, enough to send his only son to die for you.
Stop letting the past dominate your future.
Putting your past behind you, means to
And move on towards your future.
Your destiny is before you and not behind you.
Purpose is a far thought and not an afterthought.
Look at the anguishes and sufferings of your past as changes to keep you from the joy and success the future is holding for you.
Your future is on hold waiting for you to release yourself from your past.
You must let go first the old to grab hold of the new.
You have heard of catch and release, but in this case you will have to release then catch.
Philippians 3:8 ESV
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
